The predecessor of Ningxia Medical University was Ningxia Medical College, which was founded in 1958. In 1972, Shanghai Railway Medical College moved to Yinchuan City and merged with the MBBS in Ningxia Medical University to form Ningxia Medical College. In 2014, the School of Medicine of Ningxia Normal University merged with Ningxia Medical University. Today, the school has become the only medical school in Ningxia.

Chinese Government Scholarship

International students studying in China are eligible for the Chinese Government Scholarship awarded by the China Scholarship Council (CSC). This award is given to students applying to or studying at CSC-affiliated universities. Each year, CSC runs the online application system from December to April. Each CSC-affiliated university has a different application deadline. Completing the online application form is mandatory for students applying for the Chinese Government Scholarship.

Currently, 289 universities, and Chinese universities are designated to offer a wide range of programs in science, engineering, arts, philosophy, economics, medicine, legal studies, agriculture, history, literature and management under the CCS scholarship program at all levels.

Chinese Government Scholarship Programs

1. Bilateral program

The program provides full or partial scholarships to students in accordance with the exchange of education agreements between the Chinese governments and the governments of other countries, institutions or international organizations. The program supports undergraduate and graduate students, general scholars and postgraduates.

Applicants must apply to the shipping authorities to study abroad in their home country.

2. Chinese University Program

The scholarship for this program is for designated Chinese universities and specific provincial offices in certain provincial regions for the purpose of recruiting international students for postgraduate studies in China. This program supports bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. students.

Applicants must apply to universities under this program to qualify for the scholarship.

3. Great Wall Program

This UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) scholarship program sponsors students and scholars from developing countries to conduct their studies and research in China. The program supports general and post-graduate academics. Candidates for this program should apply to National Commissions for UNESCO in their home country.

4. EU program

This is a comprehensive scholarship program that encourages international students from EU member countries to study and research in China. The program also focuses on promoting mutual understanding between China and EU member states. The program supports undergraduate and graduate students, general scholars and postgraduates.

Applicants in this category should apply for the Education and Culture Mission of the P.R. China to the European Union

5. AUN program

The ASEAN University Network (AUN) program sponsors students, professors and scholars from ASEAN member countries to study and research in China. The program provides full scholarship to students, thereby enhancing academic exchange and mutual understanding between China and ASEAN member countries. It only supports master’s students, and students can apply to the AUN secretariat.

6. FIP program

This is a program under the Comprehensive Scholarship Program to sponsor students from Pacific Island countries to study in China. The program supports undergraduate, graduate, general education and higher education students and an application for the same can be made to the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Secretariat.

7. WHO program

This program in collaboration with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) sponsors international students to study and research meteorology, hydrology, and water resources monitoring and management in China. The program only supports master’s and bachelor’s students. Applicants must apply to the WMO.

Eligibility

Applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen and must hold a valid passport with a valid Chinese visa to study in China

Applicants must present their HSK mark card indicating their Chinese language skills. However, relaxation may be given to students who apply to programs that are taught in English.

Applicants must comply with the rules and regulations of the University and the Chinese Government.

Applicants with a bachelor’s degree who are no older than 28 must submit their high school transcript.

Master’s candidates under the age of 40 must submit a diploma and 2 letters of recommendation from professors.

Candidates for doctoral training must have a master’s degree and must not be over 45 years of age. It is mandatory to submit 2 letters of recommendation from the teacher.

A team of experienced and responsible professionals monitors and selects students who will receive preliminary admission letters in mid-June. They must apply online for a university scholarship by the end of June. After evaluation of applications, students receive the scholarship in September of each year. The provincial department where the university is located is responsible for all applications.

All universities in the province receive funding and support from the provincial Ministry of Education based on the number of scholarship-winning students. If the student does not comply with university or government regulations, the University has the right to file a complaint with the provincial Ministry of Education and the scholarship expires with immediate effect. The university or college must submit a complete student evaluation report to the provincial ministry to help determine the student’s eligibility for the following year’s scholarship. This report must be submitted in writing by the end of May.
